ICP-MS Application Specialist

The Role:

The Central and Applied Research Facility at Sultan Qaboos University is currently searching for a suitably qualified candidate for the role of ICP-MS Application Specialist. The role will encompass delivering high quality applications data to support research projects (undergraduate to PhD level) both within the university and externally with local companies and international bodies. The main duties will be 1) to deliver regular methods of development for the analysis of a wide range of inorganic species particularly within the fields of gas and petroleum research. 2) training of the staff 3) works towards accreditation of the lab. Candidates should be familiar with trouble shooting for methods and for hardware and software.

Requirements:

Candidates sought should have a minimum of 5 – 10 years experience in the field of ICP-MS application development with particular emphasis on oil & gas, environmental and food adulteration. This experience should be from either the academia, instrument manufacturing or within commercial laboratories in the areas of interest stipulated above.

A minimum requirement of MSc/PhD in analytical chemistry/mass spectrometry or related field is required with experience of hardware.

The role will encompass delivering high quality applications data to support research projects (undergraduate to PhD level) both within the university and externally with local companies and international bodies.  The main duties will be 1) to deliver regular methods of development for the analysis of a wide range of molecules particularly within the fields of biological and gas and petroleum research. . 2) training of the staff 3) works towards accreditation of the lab. Candidates should be familiar with methods development and trouble shooting for hardware.
